Rockport Bay Fishing
Fishing in Rockport is for any level of experience. From the old pros to those fishing for their first time. This huge complex of bays with miles upon miles of shoreline with reefs that are big enough to stretch almost all the way across some of the bays. This gives us a lot of options for how to fish and a lot of options on what to fish for. As the weather adjusts, so does the fishing. In the Spring we are generally focused on Red fish and Black Drum. Using simple techniques like shrimp under a popping cork. As we get into summer that shifts to a heavy focus on Speckled trout fishing. Using juvenile croaker on a free line for bait we convince one of the wilier species to act on instinct for the bite. Fortunately during the summer we still have Black drum and Red fish nearby but as the summer heats up they change their eating patterns as well. Moving to deeper structure making them a harder target. As the summer starts to wane we see a shift again as all the game species start moving back to skinnier structure. Fall fishing goes back to being similar to spring fishing but in new areas as the wind direction shifts. Even fishing in the winter can be a lot of fun, just a bit cold! Aside from the great fishing opportunities in this area, Rockport also has many restaurants, boutiques and other great entertainment once you're off the boat and many great places to stay as well.
